Brammarajan’s collection of essays on poetry and poetics- collected for the first time in book form. Some of these essays are from his early Meetchi period (1983) and some are unpublished and some written exclusively for this anthology of essays(2007). Most contentious issues on modern Tamil poetry are thrashed out in these essays. More over the appendix part of the book contains three very important translations of essays on poetry-one by Pablo Neruda another by Samsur Rahman Faruki and the last by the modern German poet Gunter Kunert. Poetry doesn’t preach. It just does the work of being a poem. If a poet succeeds in doing this, a poem will do the rest which the slogan shouters want to do.
